This Privacy Policy describes how scrsht.com ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Screenshot & Screen Recorder Chrome extension (the "Extension") and related services.

                Screenshots and screen recordings you capture are processed entirely on your local device. We do not upload, store, or access your captured content on our servers unless you explicitly choose to use a cloud storage feature, which is always optional and opt-in.
            

2 What We Collect

Your browsing history or the websites you visit
Personal identifiers such as your name, email, or address
Payment information (handled entirely by Chrome Web Store / payment processors)
Any data from private browsing or incognito sessions

Information We May Collect

Extension version and browser type: To ensure compatibility and deliver updates.
Anonymous usage statistics: Such as how many times the extension icon is clicked (aggregated, non-identifiable). You can disable this in settings.
Crash reports: Automatically generated technical logs to help us fix bugs. These contain no screenshot data or personal information.
Locally stored preferences: Settings like default save location, keyboard shortcuts, and UI preferences are stored using Chrome's chrome.storage API and never leave your device.

3 Screenshots & Screen Recordings

Because this is a screenshot and screen recording tool, it's important to be explicit about how media is handled:

Local processing: All capture operations happen locally in your browser using the Chrome desktopCapture and tabs APIs.
Local storage: By default, captured images and videos are saved directly to your computer's Downloads folder or copied to your clipboard. We do not maintain copies.
Optional cloud features: If you choose to enable cloud upload or sharing features, your content is transmitted using end-to-end encryption and stored only for the duration you specify. You can delete it at any time.
Clipboard access: When you use "Copy to Clipboard," the image data is placed in your system clipboard locally. We do not read from your clipboard at any time.

4 Permissions We Use

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions solely to provide screenshot and recording functionality:

desktopCapture To record your screen, window, or tab

storage To save your preferences locally

downloads To save captures to your computer

clipboardWrite To copy screenshots to your clipboard

notifications To show save confirmation toasts

offscreen To process recordings in the background

We do not request permission to read your browsing history, access your cookies, or inject scripts into pages you haven't explicitly chosen to capture.

5 Third-Party Services

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to outside parties. The only exceptions are:

Chrome Web Store: Google operates the store through which you install the Extension and handles any purchase transactions.
Analytics (optional): If enabled, we may use privacy-focused analytics that do not track individual users or store IP addresses.
Cloud storage (opt-in only): If you choose to upload captures to a cloud service, that service's privacy policy will apply to those uploads.

6 Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect any data that is transmitted:

All network communications use TLS/SSL encryption.
We regularly review our code and dependencies for security vulnerabilities.
We follow the principle of least privilege — the Extension only requests permissions strictly necessary for its core function.

However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7 Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
Deletion: Request deletion of your data. Since we store very little, this is typically accomplished by uninstalling the Extension and clearing your browser storage.
Opt-out: Disable anonymous analytics at any time in the Extension settings.
Portability: Export your settings and preferences.

8 Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can remove such information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will also provide a more prominent notice (such as an in-extension notification). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
